Sales and Pricing for Greenbelt Flowers
Dec 17, 2025
Updated with revised spreadsheet Jan 8, 2025.
Pricing is a crucial and complex aspect of running a successful flower farm. While we can’t tell you the right prices for your individual situation, seeing real data from farms and marketplaces in your area can support informed pricing decisions.
As part of the Sustainable Cut Flowers Direct – Greenbelt initiative, we have spent several months nurturing the growth and success of three specialty cut flower hubs located in or near Ontario’s Greenbelt region. This support included analyzing and reviewing sales figures with each hub.
Now, we’re sharing these insights with farmers and hubs across the region. You can find pooled pricing data, an explanatory video, and some strategies and considerations to get you started with determining fair and competitive prices.

2025 Pricing and Sales Data
To give specialty cut flower growers in the Greenbelt region a meaningful starting point for their own pricing, we have compiled a list of the 75 most popular flower products sold through Greenbelt marketplaces (or ‘flower hubs’) on the OFN platform. For each flower type, we have included the lowest, highest and average price per stem, as well as the percentage of total sales that flower type represents.
The prices listed in this spreadsheet represent the prices paid by designers and florists who purchased flowers through an online marketplace in 2025. These prices have been pooled for the entire season, across hubs with different sizes and locations.

Pricing Factors and Strategies
Factors that affect pricing
- Location and local demographics
- Market/channel of sales
- Season
- Quality and quantity of stems
- Business model and size of farm
- Flower design or other services.
Strategies to determine pricing
- Work out your cost of production.
- Talk to other farmers in your area. It’s also worth visiting other markets or farm stands in your area to compare the pricing and quality of your offerings.
- Subscribe to wholesale/ distributor lists.
- Consider what you would be willing to pay.
Wholesale Pricing
Hubs thrive by selling wholesale, which avoids additional markups. Choose a price from the range given in the spreadsheet, depending on factors like quality and volume. If you’re selling large quantities to flower shops, it’s often better to lean toward the lower end of the price range. However, if you’re selling smaller quantities, like a few bunches to a designer, the average price per stem can be an appropriate choice.
Taking the next steps
We’ve only scratched the surface of a complex process. The data and guidelines here are a starting point for confidently setting prices! For more in-depth tips and strategies on wholesale pricing, check out our post on Cut Flower Pricing and Quality for Wholesale.
